2. Introduction and objectives

Club HIVERSPORT, Ice Dance and Recreational Sport Section, a non-profit association, aims to provide skaters with high-quality coaching to support their progress and help them enjoy ice dance and skating training. Pursuing this goal requires everyone to coordinate their efforts to create a pleasant and safe environment. These rules apply to all club members as well as their families and legal guardians. All licence holders or their legal guardians must read them and accept all their terms, provisions and obligations.

3. Membership and fees

3.1. Membership procedures

Every new skater is entitled to two trial sessions. Before stepping onto the ice, the skater must give the coach a duly completed and signed liability waiver. To become a member, the applicant must provide:

• The licence application form, available on icedancing.lu;
• Two recent identity photographs;
• The club rules, including the code of conduct and safety, read, approved and signed;
• Any other document required by the club or the federation.

Membership is considered valid only after all required documents have been received and the seasonal membership fee has been paid in full. The committee reserves the right to accept or reject a membership application.

3.2. Membership fees and payment arrangements

Seasonal membership fees are set by the committee. They must be paid at the start of the season in accordance with the arrangements communicated by the club. Late payment may result in suspension from lessons.

3.3. Temporary exemption from Federal Regulation FLSG No. 003/2012 on licences

Decision No. 2026/03 of the Union Luxembourgeoise de Patinage dated 25 June 2026 grants a temporary exemption for the 2026-2027 sporting season, allowing 20 members of the Club de Danse et de Formation sur Glace to hold a federal A licence as a member of the Club de Danse et de Formation sur Glace while also holding an A licence as a member of the Club de Patinage de Luxembourg. This exemption is granted on the basis of sporting criteria, in particular actual participation in training and representation of the club at sporting events promoted by the Club. The Club applies this decision when considering membership applications.

4. Organisation of lessons

4.1. Timetables and access

Lesson times are determined by the ice slots allocated to the club. Lessons are organised into groups at the start of the season according to the skaters’ levels, and these groups may change during the season. The club provides lessons from the start to the end of the season, except in the event of exceptional closure or force majeure. The club is not responsible for lesson cancellations beyond its control (staff strikes, technical breakdowns, priority events taking place at the rink, etc.). The club’s responsibility is strictly limited to the duration of lessons on the ice. Skaters must be punctual so that lessons can run smoothly.

4.2. Roles and duties of coaches

Coaches alone are responsible for forming groups and for organising and conducting lessons. Their decisions may not be challenged. In the event of disagreement, members must raise the matter with the club committee. Only the coach decides whether a skater may take part in competitions and/or tests organised by the club. The coach must comply with the training content prescribed by the committee. The content is adapted to the level tests (see Article 6.2) and to the prerequisites published by the ISU for each season.

5. Code of conduct and safety

5.1. General behaviour

All club members must respect other skaters, coaches and volunteers in their words and actions. Respect and politeness towards rink staff are required. Any improper behaviour may lead to sanctions.

5.2. 4.2 Use of facilities

Changing rooms are available to members, but leaving valuables there is strongly discouraged. The club accepts no responsibility in the event of theft. Each member must leave the changing rooms clean when leaving the arena.

5.3. Safety on the ice

Each skater must pay attention to their surroundings and avoid obstructing others. After a fall, it is essential to get up quickly. Games and races are strictly prohibited on the ice. During the “preparation for ISU dances” and “ISU dances” lessons, practising arabesques and/or spirals without the coach’s prior permission is strictly prohibited. Figure skating and figure-skating jumps are strictly prohibited. (In accordance with ISU rules, jumps of more than one revolution are strictly prohibited during all lessons). “Let us keep the spirit of ice dance.” Spins may be practised with permission and in the area designated by the coach. This area varies according to the dances being practised during the lesson.

It is emphasised that, in the event of an accident resulting from activities that do not conform to ice dance or skating training, the insurance does not cover the damage.

5.4. Equipment and clothing

Using a portable digital player with headphones is prohibited on the ice. Scarves, hoods and jewellery that could fall off are also prohibited. Gloves are compulsory for all skaters. Knee pads are strongly recommended, as are hip protectors for couples practising lifts and spins. Wearing a helmet is strongly recommended for beginners until the skater has sufficient command of the basics (passing the “Patin d’acier” — Steel Skate — level test).

5.5. Access to the rink and use of the ice

Except during open practice sessions, skaters must wait for a coach or responsible adult to be present before entering the ice. It is essential to wait until the ice resurfacer has finished its work and its gate has been closed before stepping onto the ice. Skaters must also leave the ice at the specified time and as soon as the resurfacer arrives. Skaters must give way when a solo or a dance is being performed to music. Coaches are responsible for ensuring that skaters comply with “5. Code of conduct and safety”. In the event of non-compliance with Article 5 and repeated offences, they may immediately prohibit the skaters concerned from entering the ice.

6. Competitions, exhibitions and tests

6.1. Competitions and training camps

Participation in competitions and training camps is encouraged but not compulsory. Participants are responsible for the costs associated with these events.

6.2. Level-test sessions

Test sessions are proposed by the coach according to the skater’s objectives. The content of the tests is set out in the annex “level test – ice dance”. Test sessions are organised twice a year: in the month before the club championship and in December.

7. Club administration and communication

7.1. Administrative structure

The club is managed by a committee elected at the annual general meeting. The roles and responsibilities of committee members are defined in the club’s statutes.

7.2. General meeting

The general meeting is held at least once a year. Members are informed of the precise date at least fifteen days in advance. All members are invited to attend. It is an opportunity to present a review of the past season, elect the committee and discuss future projects.

7.3. Internal communication

The club communicates with its members through several channels:

• Noticeboard at the rink;
• Emails;
• The club’s website and Facebook page;
• WhatsApp group (or another messaging application).

Members are encouraged to consult these communication channels regularly.

7.4. Protection of personal data

The club undertakes to respect the confidentiality of its members’ personal data in accordance with the GDPR. This data will be used only for club activities. Members have the right to access their data, have it corrected or request its deletion.

8. Final provisions

8.1. Disciplinary procedure

In the event of non-compliance with the rules, the following disciplinary procedure will apply:

1) Verbal warning; 2) Written warning;

3) Temporary exclusion from lessons; 4) Permanent exclusion from the club.

Any decision to temporarily or permanently exclude a member will be taken by the committee after consulting the coaches and hearing the member concerned (or their legal representatives in the case of minors).

8.2. Amendments to the rules

These rules may be amended by a decision of the committee. Any amendment will be communicated to members as soon as possible.

8.3. Acceptance of the rules

Membership of the club implies unconditional acceptance of these rules. Members (or their legal representatives in the case of minors) must sign a statement confirming that they have read and accepted these rules.
